[Bug 513654] Re: Blank screen on (otherwise successful) resume from suspend (when suspend was initiated by closing the lid)

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 488720 ***
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488720

I don't think this is a duplicate of #488720. That appears to be an Nvidia driver issue.
This bug occurs with ATI Radeon Xpress 200M.
I also have this bug on a Dell Vostro 1000 AMD 64 X2 also Broadcom B4311 wireless card. Using Lucid Alpha 3.

Resume after suspend from the power off menu always works. Resume after lid closure always fails.
Suspend by closing the laptop lid suspends but on resume the screen is blank; ctrl Alt Fn gives no response.

After powering off following the first occurrence of this problem, then starting from powered down the system failed to boot. The error message was:
"mountall: fsck / [314] terminated with status 4"
Running fsck from a gentoo install found these errors:
inodes that were part of a corrupted orphan linked list found
Block bitmap differences
Free blocks count wrong (x2)
Inode bitmap differences
Free inodes count wrong (x2)

The above file system corruption only occurred once. Now it just locks
up.

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

If I've suspended my laptop by closing the lid, when I open it to resume, the screen stays blank, even though sound starts back up and wifi reconnects.

If I suspend from the menu, or invoke pm-utils from a console, then the resume works perfectly.

This has been true since upgrading to Lucid last week.

Gnome power manager is 2.29.1-0ubuntu2

Pm-utils is 1.30~rc1-0ubuntu1

Kernel is linux-image-2.6.32.11.15
