[Bug 944252] [NEW] Incorrect keyboard layout for MacBook Pro 5, 1

Public bug reported:

On a newly installed (K)ubuntu 11.10, 64-bit (using the live DVD), on a
MacBook Pro 5,1, the keyboard layout is incorrectly set.

Despite setting (in KDE, version 4.7.4) "System Settings > Input Devices
> Keyboard > Keyboard model: Apple | MacBook/MacBook Pro (Intl)", the
F11 and F12 keys act as if they are the middle and the right mouse
buttons respectively.

"xev"'s ouput for F12 is:

FocusOut event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x6400001,
    mode NotifyNormal, detail NotifyNonlinear

The relevant keyboard settings for X read:

# less /etc/default/keyboard

XKBMODEL="macbook79"
XKBLAYOUT="us"
XKBVARIANT="alt-intl"
XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_alt"

What is wrong?
