[Bug 547766] Re: Email handling seriously detracts from usefullness of forums

** Description changed:

At the moment, if you set your activity preferences to email or digest email
then you can receive email alerts from any notes or messages posted in
Mahara but you can only access and read them in your email. Once back
inside Mahara, you can't access that message. Which means you can't reply
to the message (there is no link inside the email alert to go to the
'space' where the actual message in Mahara lives either). It is very
inconvenient. And if you do NOT choose email or digest in Mahara activity
preferences, then you have to visit Mahara several times a day to see if
  you have any alerts.

The second aspect of this is to do with forum messaging. If I have email
alert on for forums, i get an email and I *can* find the post inside
Mahara when I visit it. But I suspect new users don't have this turned on
at all and that is why discussions are not really happening....
