That's useful to know - will make any amendments like this much easier in future. 
Would still be nice to do it from the admin interface for one-off changes, but this is workable.

Bug description:
  Enhancement
  Currently if an account is setup with an error in user details such as e-mail the data cannot be modified in the admin interface (but can be modified via database). If user details, specifically e-mail could be changed by admin by editing user profile would make process easier (and possibly safer) than hacking database records
