no, C and LDAP knowledge. But this point about comparing is important,
if we have a new authentication plugin, we should be able to explain to
our users why we have two similar solutions, and when they should use
PAM+pam_ldap.so and when a dedicated LDAP plugin.

I'm sure there can be benefits of the dedicated LDAP plugin, but we
should know clearly what they are. For example, it may be more flexible,
support user groups in LDAP, work on Windows, whatever.

I can help you writing the LDAP plugin even if you won't answer this
question. But then we won't accept it as a contribution, as we cannot
distribute something that has no value to the users.
