What client library are you using?
As far as I can see, there symbols are exported in our libmysqlclient
library. Are you using libmariadbclient?

A JIRA report and a test case is always very welcome, of course.
But I suspect I know what's the problem here - assuming you are indeed
using libmariadbclient.
