I agree with the overall sentiment that the results aren't amazing.

Simplicity and recognizability are assets to a logo, but it would be nice
if there was more pop. However, "something more creative" doesn't provide
much direction to a designer, I think.

At this point in the process, I'll pick six designs, likely the ones that
were upvoted the most. After that, there's a final round of designs. We
could use that as an opportunity to ask the 6 finalists to do something
completely different, and if none are good, we can still go with one of the
original six. How does that sound? I can send a message to the finalists,
so if anyone has any ideas for wording/direction that might produce good
results, I'm all ears.

Everyone might want to check out some of the icons I declined, many of
which I declined for not working at smaller sizes, being too strange, or
