Terminology Services

Hi All,

A **LARGE** part of semantic interoperability beyond a common
information model is the ability to use shared
terminologies/vocabularies.

This is a huge field in and of itself. We are fortunate to have
available a very robust and active open source terminology service; NCI
Center for Bioinformatics (NCICB) and for the NCI's Cancer Biomedical
Informatics Grid™ (caBIG™). http://gforge.nci.nih.gov/

In the past I have investigated the service a bit. Now is the time in
the reference model specification creation to insure that MLHIM is caBIG
compatible.

I would like to welcome anyone with an interest to work with me on this
effort. It is a BIG (pun intended) one.

This includes any students any of you may have. Maybe we can divide the
work up into a few projects.

Thanks,
Tim
