Re: CDE Browser

Luciana & All,

I am kind of documenting a discussion about this so it doesn't
disappear. :-)

The long names in the CDEs are taken from ISO 11179
http://metadata-standards.org/11179/

So in the instructions in creating CCD 'name' attributes, those names
should be encouraged since they will not only be compatible with caBIG
but also with SDMX-HD http://sdmx-hd.org/ from the WHO.

I am now looking into how best to incorporate the Public ID of the
Common Data Elements (CDE) in the reference model. First glance makes
me believe that is all that will be required of MLHIM proper.

Of course the CCDs must be correctly defined and application platforms
will either need to use native Java APIs or in non-Java apps, the Web
Services layer to access caBIG instances.
