But the window X button *always* was "close this window" and not "exit
the application". I'm a bit surprised that this question/annoyance comes
up more frequently now, may indeed have something to do with the app
indicator work.
For example, in Gimp I do not expect the application to close if I close
one of the toolboxes with the X. Neither to I expect Tomboy to exit if I
click the X of one of its notes. And so on.
It seems that there is an implicit assumption that the X exits the app
if the app has only one window, which, for some apps like music players,
does not hold true.
FWIW, *I* absolutely despise it when clicking the minimize button does
not minimize the app to the task bar, because that's what *I* expect it
to do. To me, it breaks consistency if some apps can be found on the
task bar after minimizing, and others cannot. To me, the "X closes the
windows (and if the app continues to run without a window, it does so in
the tray)" is much more consistent and logical. Goes to show how
different tastes and expectations are ....
