But the spec is there, and the code is open, and so it's low hanging fruit for a contribution that will get support with pre-implementation calls (with Mirco, Neil or David Barth) and quick reviews and landings if the code is good, does what's needed, and has tests for the test suite. The current plan is to put more work into Notify-OSD in 11.04, to harmonise some of the visual effects there with what's been developed in Unity and to handle things like incoming calls which cannot be done with asyncronous, ephemeral notifications. The biggest thing missing from Notify-OSD right now is the optimised duration part of the spec: extending the life of long notifications, or updated notifications, appropriately, as well as handling flooding. All of that is specified but not implemented. Also, improving the way things like NetworkManager use the capabilities of Notify-OSD (primarily by using notification updates rather than serialised notifications). Mark
