Yes, I think it is very important for an OS nowadays to work with a wide range of screen sizes (and make use of it!). On the one hand there are a lot of mobile devices with small screens, but on the other hand a lot of people still use desktop PCs (probably almost all office users), and there screen sizes are increasing (24" screens are really cheap today).
I often resize terminals, editors and evince and arrange them so that I can view all of them, for example when looking at a manual or a paper, doing something on the command line and writing some text about it.would resizing in a grid not help with all this? It would be easier to snap application windows to each other this way. It would also make resizing faster in general as far as i can imagine.
Actually I'm not that happy with the current situation of manually resizing and moving the windows. When I still had 19" screens, I used to maximize all important applications and not think much about window management, and I really had to train myself to adapt to a different usage style.
So I would like to see ways to make window placement easier. Do you know anything that I could try?
