I also have this issue. I saw it in the initial 12.04 Beta release and
so held off upgrading until now, on the hopes it would be fixed. Still
seems to be a problem. Exactly the same thing happens to me as in the
video.

  Ubuntu 12 with Qt 4.8: certain fonts overlap at smaller sizes

Status in Mudlet the MUD client:
  New

Bug description:
  Regression from 4.7 - using 4.8.1, certain fonts are overlapping.

  Deja Vu Sans Mono on font size 11 is OK, but on font size 10 and
  below, there are some overlapping issues.

  Ubuntu Mono renders OK with font size 10 and 11.
