Well, I'm definitely not predicting that Wayland will be the input
server :-) As far as I know, almost no work has gone into input for
Wayland. I'm not a gambler, so I'd bet on the safe horse: Wayland
wrapping X input for the near-term.
That being said, lots of folks have expressed interest in
building/seeing/supporting a new input mechanism for Linux. It would be
nice to have something that we could -- at the very least -- start
experimenting with in Linux. And experimentation is very different that
stable deployment :-)
Rest assured, If the rumors do end up being true, I will advocate for
public inclusion as soon as humanly possible. (Full disclosure: these
really are just rumors -- I haven't seen a lick of code).
