Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV: New

Bug description:

I incorrectly posted the bug to mythtv as : http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/8747
and now I post it here:

After upgrading, I started having the problem where previews are not
 generated for the frontend.

 I have verified that the directory is writeable by the myth user.

I did a second update thinking it was just a quirk of that particular build, but I still get the same error message.  Maybe this is just
 something weird with the PPA I am using:  ppa:mythbuntu/0.24 from here:
