[Bug 621959] [NEW] lirc not starting

Binary package hint: lirc
i have installed the lirc package and selected the windows media center remotes (all) option and then rebooted to activate the lirc kernel module and lirc didn't work.
when i tried to start it manually gets message.
sudo /etc/init.d/lirc restart
find: ‘/sys/devices/virtual/rc/’: No such file or directory
* Stopping remote control daemon(s): LIRC [fail]
* Loading LIRC modules [ OK ]
* Unable to load LIRC kernel modules. Verify your
* selected kernel modules in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf

this is in maverick development
works fine in lucid.
