This is happening to me as well, during my upgrade to mythtv-database
0.23.0++fixes25362-0ubuntu0++mythbuntu2.

Here is the output from my terminal.

root@hostname:/etc/mythtv# dpkg-reconfigure -f text mythtv-database

If any other computers (that includes other Front End machines) with MythTV will be used, this computer needs to be configured 
to allow remote connections.

Note that this is a security risk, as both the MythTV and MySQL services will be exposed. Be sure to place this machine behind a
firewall.

If multiple interfaces are used, the first one listed in 'ifconfig' will
be used.

Will other computers run MythTV? yes


Failed to create or modify database (incorrect admin username/password?)
Try:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database

Status in “mythtv” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: mythtv

I don't know what I'm doing, other than trying to get mythtv to actually work. been uninstalling, installing, seem to be unable to start over, somehow it can't connect to database. May just reinstall ubuntu to start from scratch. 

I changed the ip from dhcp to static, and then mythtv started getting weird. It worked initially, then after rebooting it couldn't connect to db. this happened 2 times. 

I want to get back to vanilla, just leave everything at defaults. connect backend as 127.0.0.1 and not change to actual ip for advanced usage, because I don't know enough to change other settings.....
