Title:
  Mythbuntu 9.04 install mutes HDMI audio on MSI K9N26M-FIH motherboard
  (Realtek ALC888 and NVidia MCP78S)

Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Upon installing Mythbuntu 9.04 the HDMI audio output wasn't working,
  so I opened up alsamixer and noticed that "IEC958" at the end of the
  list was not muted and that "IEC958 1" was. I switched it (unmuted
  "IEC958 1" and muted "IEC958") and then the sound worked just fine.

  I also had to add the following text to the file /etc/asound.conf to
  get each of the programs to play the sound correctly:
