[Bug 763412] Re: mceusb devices stopped working in natty

Its not "some conflict". The kernel has IR drivers in it now, with
protocol decoders, so you get native linux input layer events from most
stock remotes, no lirc required whatsoever. There's also an lirc bridge
driver in the kernel for "legacy" mode, but the need to disable the in-
kernel decoders when using it has been covered umpteen times on multiple
mailing lists and forums, and *should* be handled automatically with the
latest lirc initscript in ubuntu.

Title:
mceusb devices stopped working in natty

Status in “lirc” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: lirc

With a fresh install of natty my mceusb device has stopped working
completely. In previous versions of ubuntu I had to install lirc to
make it work but now with or without lirc there is nothing. I have
  followed suggestions in this post:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9984844&postcount=4 but they
have not worked. When I run irw I get no responses from the remote
using option 1 or 2. This has caused XBMC to not being able to use a
MCE remote at all, but this is NOT an XBMC problem.
