[Bug 981416] [NEW] Passthrough via SPDIF stopped working
Public bug reported:
Description: Ubuntu 11.10
Release: 11.10
NVidia HDA ALC1200 optical SPDIF digital output.
Both DTS and AC3 worked well for months after early, unknown problems getting AC3 through. Upgraded various packages, including Mythtv to 0.25, before this latest problem.
PCM works via the SPDIF optical cable.
Attempts to play DTS 5.1 audio results in a 'Dolby Digital 3/2' display on the receiver and no sound. Choosing the PCM option from the same file plays in stereo okay. AC3 audio defaults to PCM (I think).
The NVidia HDA ALC1200 seems no longer to have a digital 5.1 option when viewed with Pulse audio volume control but shows correctly in Mythtv and aplay -L.
The receiver (Sony STR-DE835) decodes DTS and AC3 fine from a stand-
alone DVD player via a coaxial cable.
I'm well out of my depth here. I apologise if this is a settings
mistake.
