[Bug 715376] Re: lirc upgrades stomp on configuration files
We really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve
Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The
biggest one is that upstream believes this to be fixed in the latest
version. Could you please verify if this issue still exists in the
latest version?
Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a
new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with the newer
versions.

Title:
lirc upgrades stomp on configuration files
Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
Mythbuntu seems to be doing everything in its power to stomp on my custom /etc/lirc configuration files at every possible opportunity. Whenever I run Mythbuntu control center, it insists on writing new configuration files, which are completely incorrect (lircd gets turned off, wrong transmitter---basically all the new settings are garbage). Similarly, every time I do a significant system upgrade, the updated packages (presumably the lirc package) stomp on them again.
I've resorted to just keeping a backup copy of the entire /etc/irc
directory and "cp -r"-ing the thing every time it does this, but
that's obnoxious. Config files should be sacrosanct, and doubly so
for one that's as hard to get working correctly as the lircd config
files are!
Configuration is 10.04.
