I just tried to use Mythmote for the first time and it won't connect to
my frontend. Do we know that this bug causes a connection problem and if
so is there a workaround?

Title:
  Use Android not applied in Mythbuntu Control Center

Status in Mythbuntu, Ubuntu derivative focused upon MythTV:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Selection "Use Android or IOS phone as remote" is not applied by
  Mythbuntu Control Center.  This has been observed but apparently not
  reported as a bug.  See: http://askubuntu.com/questions/153498/use-
  android-as-a-remote-option-wont-stay-selected-in-mythbuntu-control-
  centre.  The workaround given in the answer there does not work (at
  least not for me).  Mythbuntu version is 14.04 kernal
  3.13.0-34-generic.  This is a fresh install.
