This has been supported in the kernel for a while now.  I'm surprised this
bug is still open.

  I have Rosewill RHRC-11001 IR:

  I run Ubuntu 10.10.
  I installed the latest avaiable lirc version 0.8.7~pre3 from official repository. My IR doesn't work.

  sudo mode2
