Hi,

Can you precise the version of nssbackup you are using? 
I would also like to know if you launched nssbackup config gui as Admin (from System=>Administration menu) or as a desktop user (from Applications=>Accessories menu). 

In the first case, the log file will be located by default into /var/log while in the second case it will be in ~/.local/share/nssbackup (IIRC) . 
Can you look at the contains of this file and provide it to use?
