Title:
Moved files disappear if they are touched during synchronization
Status in unison package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: unison
If your database is big and you have moved or renamed some folders,
which unison interprets as "deleted/new", it will take it a while to
check both roots.
If meanwhile the moved files are touched, unison refuses to propagate
them and produces an error message that these files were not copied
because they changed during syncrhonization.
However, the expected safe behavior would be not to propagate the
deletions afterwards.
In batch mode it should
- write this error to unison.log
- keep propagating all the changed and new files
- when it comes to the deleted files, either
-- just stop, or
-- restart.
In interactive mode it should
- write this error to unison.log
- keep propagating all the changed and new files
- when it comes to the deleted files, prompt the user.
How to reproduce:
Move some files/folders from their current containing folder to some other
Start syncing
Make sure unison has scanned the "new" folders
Change the files inside these folders before it propagates them
You will see that it does not copy the modified files to the other
root, but still it erases their previous image, leaving the other root
with *neither* copy of the files.
