Hi Alan,
The Canonical contributor agreement itself is very controversial [1].
The Harmony agreements which you mention can be seen as a political move
by Canonical to make its own policy more acceptable [2]. In spite of
spin, the agreements are not community developed [3]. Actually, Harmony
raises a number of relevant points which do not favour their adoption
particularly, one of which is that most of them do not prevent the
copyrights to disappear in a proprietary product in case of a company
sell out [4].
