Re: Migrating from v6.x to v7?

Hi all,
Going from v6 to v6.1, there was some good documentation that came about
to assist people in doing their own upgrade.
After a less than helpful response via twitter (yeah I know not a support
service etc), are there any existing community efforts to build some
documentation to help with the upgrade.
Hi Ian,
this project that we started some time ago aims at scripted upgrades
using the native migration manager of OpenERP:
https://launchpad.net/openupgrade-server
These distributions of OpenERP contain extra migration scripts per
module, in their "migrations/[version]" subdirectories. They also
contain a mechanism to calculate the changes in database layout between
two versions of OpenERP for any set of installed modules. These delta
files are also included in the distributions for the official addons, as
"migrations/[version]/openupgrade_analysis.txt". Migration scripts are
not available for all modules as they are contributed on a per-need
basis, but these distributions of OpenERP + migration scripts can
currently migrate databases with a fairly broad selection of modules
from OpenERP 5.0 to OpenERP 6.1. These databases are now used in
production. We have had very little problems with them after the migration.
For the coming 7.0 release of OpenERP, the infrastructure has been
ported and a preview version of the delta files has been generated. I
expect migration script development to take off after the release of 7.0.
Best regards,
Stefan.
