Re: missing sort and filter features

Hi,

Yes, filter buttons could potentially take a lot of space, that's why we will better use just the drop-down list.

Anyone has any idea or sample on how to dynamically add filtering values to the standard search at load time ?

Hello Mario,

Thank you for the feedback.

Sorry for the late response, I have looked at the merge proposal and I appreciate your suggestions as well. We should find time and resolve and contribute at the earliest possible. I will inform the team.

Creating buttons on search area will be big and will occupy a lot of space, isnt it ?

Additionally, we have a requests like to add 0-9 into the search as well.

Thanks.

Hi Jay,

I have been checking your excellent web_search_alphabetic addon...

Have you advanced in the observations made during the branch merge into web_addons, like adding context param to enable/disable it for certain models, or filtering numbers ?

Besides its regular functionality, I am planning on using the drop-down list for other filtering needs... Like having there the list of salespeople and filter by one of them (could also be made into buttons but if there are many this could clutter the screen... )

In general, "old style" buttons for filtering are really missed, as it is more complicated for users to go to the "new" search and select there... Is there any development done that allows creating buttons on the search area ?

V8 is going to change the way people look at OpenERP, it just will thrill many opensource tools!

All the best!

Hi,

I must +1 with those remarks here, it'll not cost a lot to put in the core and those features will really improve the user experience a lot with OpenERP.

    same problem in French

    Hello Fabien!

Following various topics like BI, CMS, WMS v8 looks very promising

nevertheless some basics are missing for years now

     1. search and order non database (function, translations)
fields (a 100EUR patch for 6.0 is available)
sort of product names with language German in trunk does
        not sort.
filter accounts balance !=0 not possible
        taken from
        http://trunk-new-graphview-ged-28445-all.runbot.openerp.com
this is unusable for some 100 records

     2. put data content in a "frame" - menus, buttons and headers
must normally remain visible to avoid scrolling
     3. one2many_sorted
        https://www.openerp.com/apps/trunk/one2many_sorted/
this should be integrated into the base
the "unsorted" o2m fields are a major and long term (2008) outstanding
        problem.
        https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openobject-server/+spec/sorted-output
        https://blueprints.launchpad.net/openobject-server/+spec/sorted-lists
        https://developer.gnome.org/hig-book/stable/controls-lists.html.en#controls-lists-sortable

users are only capable to "sort" (find) data in short lists (up to 3-10
        records)
everything else must be sorted using a user friendly "natural" key (not ids).

I also want to emphasize that the _order clause in the class
        specification is NOT sufficient if
        * the resource has multiple "natural" keys (account_move_line, stock_move...)
           or
        * if the resource has to be (NLS) sorted using a foreign key only
        reachable via (multiple) m2o fields.

using sequences is a valid option, but usually needs user interaction to
define the sequence order and is often not necessary if a natural key is
        used as default.

Many users will enjoy these options as it enhances user
    experience a lot.
