Oh wait, I checked the pad, and I was wrong in my former comment!
I was confused because I thought you changed the workflow of sales orders.
Sorry!

You actually have to change the workflow related to pickings, as you did.
I will double-check to see whether it really make sense in all states.

Try to add the button in the sales order form to cancel the sales order's pickings, and you work will be complete.
