Re: Default taxes on expense or income accounts are not honoured

Stefan,

Thanks for the example. You made things clear. See options below:

1- Add tax per product--> too much work and you already mentioned it
2- Group products: would love to have this option. But you need to check each product to mark it as a category in a group.. also much efforts
3- Mark all sales and purchases with 19 % but adjustable %.. the option that I love to have. Off course some parameters should be added eg country if NL/EU and outside eu etc

>From accounting view its no problem to make use one of options above. Those who generate PO's and SO's will suffer if we stick to option 1 or 2.

Greets,

Samer

Hi Samer,

Yes, you could do that. See the bug report for the exact description.
Note that the issue was already confirmed by the OpenERP devs and there was a patch (again, see the bug report). However, Fabien invalidated the issue saying that "if there is not tax on the product, it means that there should be no tax in sale or purchase" (in comment #5 [1]), introducing the interesting concept of an empty(!) value overriding a default value on a higher level.

If you are as surprised as I am, then apparently we agree on the way that things are supposed to work and if no one else on the accounting mailing list objects then we can ask Fabien to reconsider.

Regards,
Stefan.
