Initial register vs account balance

Dear all,

in OpenERP, it seems that a user can create a register , enter anopening balance that will not affect the balance of the account linkedto the registerI found an old post in launchpadhttps://answers.launchpad.net/openobject-addons/+question/100710explaining that the user has to manually enter

the opening balance

This seems weird because there is no real control on what is entered asopening balance in the register and what the user can manually enter in an

account entry.

Did I miss something ?
