Report basic layout requirements

 

As already discussed multiple times reports need the following data fields to 
be enterprise ready
* datetime generated/printed
* page number
* total pages (if possible)
* report name (id)
* user requesing the report
* company
* "domain" - the search criteria must be nicely printed at the beginning or 
end of report 
** nicely = search criteria must be ordered (not random periods as in 
Accounting Generic Reports - account balance) 
* "End of Report" at the end of the report - if this is not self explaining

although it's already a lot better than in V4 the print layout should still be 
more compact
* letter size 10 points
* narrow line spacing
* reasonable small header / footer area
* small header for internal reports (may be a big one for first page)

selectable page size (A4, letter / legal) at time of printing - defaults 
* landscape instead of word wrapping (although I prefer to print portrait for 
better readability )

* language (selectable at time of printing, defaults to addressee's language, 
user, partner,...) dependent decimal and comma separator
         
* batch printing (select printer destination (or file, email) and # copies in 
OpenERP)

especially also valid for "print screen"
