In my first comment, I thought there was a reason to ignore the empty fields.
But in fact, it sounds that there is actually no good reason to do that, and you are right, we do not have any other proper way to empty a field.

I clearly advocate for changing the semantics to: an empty field in the csv file empties the value in OpenERP (treat them as NULL).
