[Bug 1026806] Re: Boolean option giving a user read only to a group.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1025534 ***

I'd disagree that it is a duplicate. Related/linked - yes. Duplicate -
not strictly. It could be implemented separately to the other bug. But
...

If marking it as a duplicate will mean that this and the true
multicompany group/user gets more attention towards being implemented,
I'm happy for that to happen.

Title:
Boolean option giving a user read only to a group.

Status in OpenERP Server:
  New

Bug description:
We'd like a simple way to setup a user that can ONLY read details
  within OpenERP.

Currently the way that I do this is make a duplicate of a group (and
their inherited groups) and then set the permissions to only have Read
Access. Each time we add a new feature I have to go hunting through
the changes to the access rights and add those to that Read Only
group. This is not the most effective way that things could be done.

If a user is set to have read only access to an existing group, the
new menus and access rules are automatically available to that user
(albeit in that read only state).

By being able to define a user/group/company combination as read only
it should be relatively simple to have some code to decide if a 'Edit'
or 'Create' (or 'Duplicate', 'Delete' etc) button is visible to the
  user.
