[Bug 1084997] Re: 7.0 trunk Message of type comment with wrong date label

My apologies,

crucial bits of information have been missing, and after some additional
digging, it could well be a bug related to the javascript / web
component.

The set-up:

ubuntu server as all the browser clients and the client OS are set to
the UK region and time zone.

1. ubuntu server set to UK (GB) locale (see screenshot server_locale.tiff)
2. Firefox Javascript Date() returning local timezone (Firefox_date.tiff)
3. Admin user timezone and language setting is to English(UK) and Europe/London (oe7_admin.tiff)
4. Message posted today (03/12/2012 or 03 Dec 2012) is interpreted as March 12 2012, hence '9 months ago' (message.tiff)
5. Message detail shows todays date (Message_detal.tiff)

It is irrelevant, which browser on Mac OS is used and this is even
replicable in Ubuntu client OS and Firefox (as long as the region is UK)

Most likely poor coding is the reason for this bug i.e. the locale
setting of the browser is not used when calculating the age of the
message.

as a final screenshot the problem when the javascript newDate function
is used without any locale awareness (firefox_locale_ignored.tiff)

Best Regards,
Eckhard.

Title:
7.0 trunk Message of type comment with wrong date label

Status in OpenERP Addons (modules):
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  7.0 trunk:

  How to replicate:
Post a comment to a contact in form view (creates a message type comment related to this res.partner object)

Message gets created with correct timestamp (Settings > Technical >
  Email > Messages

However, the comment in the timeline of the contact is shown as '2
  years ago'.

  setup:
openerp user timezone is set, ubuntu server timezone is correct, browser uses client timezone, same as openerp user timezone.

Is this a bug or a configuration issue?

  Regards,
  Eckhard
