On a fresh installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS precise with a fresh installed
http://nightly.openerp.com/6.1/releases/openerp-6.1-latest.tar.gz and a
new created database (default language doesn't matter), I can't set a
default value for a field.

I don't have installed any additional module, just try to add a new customer with the default country Germany.
As far as I know, I should press the 'Set default' menu entry in the 'Custom' section on the right side of the web screen.
But there are only two possible selections 'customer = 1' or 'language=English'.

Are there any prerequisites I have to install (modules, base
configuration...)?

Unfortunately, I don't even find this menu entries:
Settings -> Customization -> Low Level Objects -> Actions -> User-defined Defaults
There is no 'Customization' menu in my installation.

What can I do?
