We have merged in 7.0 a change regarding the duplication of product

The behaviour is the following:
In the user's language (eg: in french)
"mon produit" -> "mon produit (copie)"
In other languages
"my product" -> "my product"
"mijn product" -> "mijn product"
...

This is to be coherent with other duplication of translatable records.

As you are working in a multilang environment, when changing the name in one language, you will edit the translation, not the "master" name stored in the database. You need to switch in English (US) to do so (as en_US is the default language in OpenERP).
When you export a product, you will export the untranslated value. It means that if you don't change the English name, both name will have be "my product".

The name_template field is a related used only for sorting on product. We will remove that field in trunk once we have added the possibility to sort on field in inherited tables. In 7.0 this field is never displayed, only used in the _order.
Stored and related fields do not support translation in OpenERP. It's maybe something we will handle in the future (and if we do, it will be a nightmare for duplication and stuff) but not at the moment. That means that the name_template field can not have translations.

We have decided to write the translated value on the field as it may confuse users otherwise.
The typical scenario is the database with every user using a single language (different than en_us). For fields such as complete_name in product.category, we edit the name but display the complete_name. Displaying a complete_name in English while we set a value in French would be very confusing. It will not satisfy people in 100% of cases but in simple cases with one language in the company, it will works.

To sum up, when you export name and name_template of duplicated products
in your scenario, if you do not change the en_US name, you will get:

id,name,name_template
__export__.product_product_33,Product 1,Product 1
__export__.product_product_34,Product 1,Product 2
__export__.product_product_35,Product 1,Product 3

And this is the expected behaviour.

Bug description:
  Using OpenERP V7.0 using language 'English (UK)'

  Changing the name of a product created as a duplicate of another
  product does not change the name field only the name_template.

  I created a product named product 1, duplicated it and renamed it
  Product 2. I duplicated product 2 and renamed it Product 3.

  After exporting the data the fields were as below:

  id	                                                        name                                     name_template
  __export__.product_product_33	Product 1                             Product 1
  __export__.product_product_34	Product 1 (copy)                 Product 2
  __export__.product_product_35	Product 1 (copy) (copy)     Product 3

  
  The product view shows the name template but. This effects sorting and filtering as I guess they use the name field.
