[Bug 303291] [NEW] All generated Jasper reports are blank w/ openjdk-6-jdk

Public bug reported:

All reports created using jasper reports
(http://jasperforge.org/plugins/project/project_home.php?group_id=102)
are outputted blank with the OpenJDK included in Intrepid and Jaunty.
I'm seeing this on different machines, so I guess it's not a local
configuration problem.

This is a critical bug since some commercial-strength software,
expecially on the server side, are relying on JasperReports to do their
Business Intelligence analysis. At my company, we lost several days
after an Intrepid upgrade hunting down this (we initially blamed
JasperReports, or a bug in the application generating the data). They
heavily pressured me to switch to Windows 2003 Server due to this :-(.

To try out this bug, download iReport from
http://jasperforge.org/plugins/project/project_home.php?group_id=83,
unpack it, create an empty report, and try generating an output with an
empty dataset (or set up one) -- it doesn't matter the output format.

No text will be displayed, even for static labels.

Maybe I'm wrong, but if I recall correctly it worked with Hardy's
OpenJDK.

Switching to Sun's official (non-free!) JDK 6 fixes this, anyway.

** Affects: openjdk-6 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
