Message #02911
[Bug 514358] [NEW] Ugly fonts in Ubuntu Server installation
Public bug reported:
After installing openjdk-6-jdk on a default Ubuntu desktop installation,
the fonts in Java applications look nice and smoothly antialiased
(screenshot 1).
When I install the same package on a Ubuntu server (and have the window
rendered on the desktop system using ssh -X forwarding), the fonts look
ugly (screenshot 2).
I suspect some missing dependency of the jdk package that is normally
pulled in by ubuntu-desktop (which isn't installed on server
installations).
** Affects: openjdk-6 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
