I'm against adding some extra options. We can just check for the version of OOo/LO/etc. and change the call accordingly. But that is not ungent, as I doubt that OOo/LO/etc. would breake backwards compatiblity by removing the old arguments before releasing the next major release.

Just for record: AFAIK the only difference of the usage of old parameters is a warning on the comandline.
