The lite saving code is in my media tree which is targetted for 2.1.  Have a look at the servicemanager and serviceItem as I needed to changed some code there.  What you are doing may needed to be done here so consideration may be a good thing.
The revisions of media should help as I did most of the changes in 2 revisions.
