Thanks for going through that. I have all the libs mentioned, and the
mp4 file plays without any problems on vlc and mplayer, including sound
output.

Video taken with my Sanyo Xacti DMX-HD800 has no sound. This camera uses AVC/H.264 codec. Sound on avi video is fine.
