Thank you for your help and solution cenwen I had a look at the link you
posted and tried following the directions on the link but still can't
open the program (Openshot) Will try it again in a few days and see if I
can get it to open and will post back on the results. Thank you very
much again for your help cenwen.

Bug description:
Every time I try and open openshot it comes up with this error
OpenShot (version 0.9.53)

NameError: global name 'mlt' is not defined

Error:  OpenShot has not been installed in the Python path.
(Both the site-packages and /usr/share/openshot folders were checked)

Use the following command to install OpenShot:
  $ sudo python setup.py install

user@user-desktop:~$ sudo python setup.py install
[sudo] password for user: 
python: can't open file 'setup.py': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
