Re: [Bug 497004] [NEW] The program doesn't start on a non Debian-based distro
The build wizard only works for Debian systems. Perhaps we should rename it
the build wizard to "Debian Build Wizard". OpenShot needs the MLT
framework, and the Swig Python bindings for the MLT framework. Once you
figure out how to get those working in Slackware, OpenShot is just a pure
Python program, and can be installed with "sudo python setup.py install".
You can get the source for OpenShot on the download
page<http://www.openshotvideo.com/2008/04/download.html>.
Good luck!

Bug description:
I installed this software with the wizard (version 0.9.54) on my Slackware 13 . The installation process doesn't give errors , but when I try to launch openshot , the program doesn't start .... launching it from a terminal gives me these message :
--------------------------------
OpenShot (version 0.9.54)
--------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------
Error: OpenShot has not been installed in the Python path.
(Both the site-packages and /usr/share/openshot folders were checked)
Use the following command to install OpenShot:
$ sudo python setup.py install
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understood the message , but I didn't find a solution yet . Reading some forums I noticed that this problem is common in non Debian-based systems .
