It's certainly a bug of MLT. If i have an advice to give you pass at the last version (0.4.10) but you must compile it by the classic commands (./configure, make, make install).

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: New

Bug description:
When trying to edit a clip, video appears to play at double speed whilst audio plays normally (whilst stuttering) in the preview and after the video has been rendered. The videos in particular this happened with were fairly long (30 minutes +), 64 bit Ubuntu 9.10 and formats as follows (according to Nautilus):

H.264/AVC 320x240
AAC

DIVX MPEG 4 Version 5 720x528
MP3
