I have the exact same problem - no sound for video or audio preview. I
have UI sounds for menus, etc. But nothing for any format video or audio
clip I've imported (avi, mpeg, mp3, wav).

When I export the project the sound is there, everything is synced and
looks/sounds great.

I'm running UbuntuStudio 9.10 32bit with Pulseaudio removed (only ALSA
for audio). Running OpenShot 1.0.0 from ppa.

Bug description:
There is no sound when previewing a video. I didn't have the audio on the track muted, and pavucontrol showed no sound coming out of the app.
