[Bug 534350] Re: A splash screen would solve the loading dilemma
since the thumbnail sizes will be different on different screen
resolution (I am assuming this, correct me if i'm wrong), would if
OpenShoot had a temp or cache of the thumbnails? They would be generated
on the first run of OpenShot.

Bug description:
Due to a recent change, OpenShot is not loading effects and transitions during startup, but only when the respective tabs are selected for the first time. This effectively improved the startup time, but created a very noticeable delay when the effects and transitions tabs are selected for the first time.
One could argue that the previous situation was better, as a longer startup time makes the user wait when he has not started to work yet, while taking longer to open tabs interrupts the workflow, even if just once.
My suggestion is going back to the previous situation, but adding a loading splash screen with a progress bar, so the user can see that there is a clear reason for the delay.
Alternatively, if the current situation will be kept, some kind of "loading..." label could appear while the tab is not fully loaded.
