[Bug 597888] Re: Openshot 1.1.3 crashes when clip's Layout size 300x300

Update, there seems to be a bug in ffmpeg, but was later fixed, it
involved the swScaler thing being set to a value higher than 4096.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ffmpeg/+bug/443264

It was apparently fixed, but not in Openshot. I think in Openshot, it
should clip the video to the frame before sending it off to ffmpeg, or
at least handle the error return better than crashing. Basically when
you make a clip Layout 300% to "zoom" in you don't really need to
process the data that is clipped off the frame to ffmpeg (or do you?)
I'm not familiar enough with Openshot's rendering pipeline but I was
hoping this could be fixed as I would like to zoom in much more than
300%.

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: New

Bug description:
Using Openshot 1.1.3 on Karmic 9.10 from PPA, to reproduce:

Create any project, pick a clip that is of a large frame size (large frame size seems to matter), I use a HDV clip from a MOV or MP4 that is 1920x1080 30p.

Add the clip to any track and save your project (because it is about to crash).

Now go to that clip's properties, click on Layout, set width and height to 300x300.

If it did not crash yet, either export it or seek the preview position to the very start of the frame of that clip. It will crash when the frame's size reaches the position where it is to be 300x300 or near it.

Output error message on console is:

swScaler: Compile-time maximum width is 5120 change VOF/VOFW and recompile
    python: filter_swscale.c:128: filter_scale: Assertion `context' failed.
    Aborted

This also happens when I try to export the clip, all messages on console are:
