My comment didn't get applied to the bug - here it is again:
frei0r-plugins is a missing dependency, see bug #574590.
libmlt2 (one of the Openshot dependencies) controls installation of
libavformat/libavformat-extra-52, see here:

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: Won't Fix
Bug description:
When installing Openshot from repositories (I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 with standar repos) packages like frei0r-plugins and libavformat-extra-52 should be installed by dependencies or, at least, be listed in "Recommended Packages" section.
With this packages, Openshot can export videos to any audio/video format, so errors like "libmp3lame is not installed" would be solved
