Re: [Bug 630284] Re: Add the WebM format

Hi Andy,

No, WebM is a format for the web so we must have it ( a preset) in the
exportation window in the both and DxHD is already present in the
exportation but it is a little bit weird and it will be more useful as a
tool conversion for people who have a bad hardware for using AVCHD.

Hi,
I think that will be a very good think and idea, if we had the new web and powerful and also free format who is WebM. He has been free by Google and had like specification a container/encapsulation Matrovska, VP8 for the Video codec and Audio codec Vorbis. Obviously, this Format have the support of Google who is a luck of his quickly adoption in the world.
The only tool who manage this new format is FFmpeg but only in the version 0.6.0.
Like the next version will come near of the version of Ubuntu 10.10 Marverick Merkat who she, integrated this version, we should introduce him in this version.
For doing some tests with, two tools : Gstreamer and FFmpeg. For having this version, there is a PPA (be careful i have not yet tested). that you can find here (see the thread on our forum) : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=538

Some informations in French but i'm sure that you could find more in English (could you put here, please) :

A blog entry in English for a developper of the x264 who analyse the strong and the weakness of this format (not a partial opinion) but same he is not perfect he is better than Xvid and Dirac : http://x264dev.multimedia.cx/?p=377
